I am such a spoiled brat! I’ve been so busy having fun, I havn’t had a chance to write. Well, here it is. My first post from the lovely city of Ottawa. For you kiwis, it’s like Wellington in that it’s a government city, but it’s like Christchurch in looks – flat, with a gorgeous river running through it.
I arrived on Thursday night and promptly burst into tears on sight of Brooke at the airport. Suddenly, four years means absolutely nothing. It’s like we’ve never been apart.
My second night here was the Ottawa Blues Fest, which is a big music festival which has very little to do with blues. I went and saw Live, who I LOVE, so I was super excited because I highly doubt they’d ever come to NZ.
I’ve got a flat 15 mins walk from town with a fat cat named Lucky. Brooke’s kitten Chai – who I prefer to call Chaos – is about a quarter the size of Lucky and the Cutest Thing I have ever seen.
Speaking of Cute, you gotta check this guy out:
He’s a ground hog. There’s loads of them here and I have fallen in love. My roommates think it’s hilarious, we’re driving along with me in the back seat, nose pressed against the window, and shrieking ‘Groundhog!!!’ whenever I see one of these fat little things in the grass. It’s really not that exciting to them. But LOOK at the thing. How could I resist?
Still not squirrel sightings, which I am very disappointed about. I expected them to be swarming all over the place, which may have been a little unrealistic.
Going to the Ottawa Musuem of Nature soon I hope, so that will at least artificially update my wildlife count.
More soon, I promise (fingers crossed).
Hey Sarah,
In Lubbock, TX where I went to college, they had an entire town for prairie dogs (similar to ground hogs):
