Lembas/In your absence

I’m not reading
not today
maybe not ever

But I’m nervous
for you
in the density of the cafe
your knees knock mine
your fingers clutch

your eyes dart
You’re calculating the time left
before there’s no time left

When they call for you
you’ve left the room
And I have to laugh, because
for someone who talks so much
you’re so good at creating awkward silences
