While I was interviewing him for a different story, Dr Richard Doehring casually mentioned that he was “host to a colony of hookworms.” His tone was gleeful. I thought, wtf? 

When I found out he’d purchased the worms using Bitcoin, because the sale of the infectious organism is illegal, then allowed them to burrow into his skin – well. I didn’t want to know more… and I absolutely couldn’t help myself.
