This poem was published in Issue Two of Sweet Mammalian<\/a> earlier this month. I didn’t intentionally go looking for another poem on the feminist theme, I just happened to like this one. The conflicts are familiar to me and the wordplay is just actually quite delightful.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

Pamela tells her feminist group she’s thoroughly sick of women<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/br><\/p>\n

\n

Pamela tells her feminist group she\u2019s thoroughly sick<\/p>\n

of women even though she is one.<\/p>\n

And she\u2019s finding the line between being objectified and being<\/p>\n

desired softer and harder to define.<\/p>\n

Pamela desires an object to buoy her as she plunges<\/p>\n

every morning into coffee<\/p>\n

then her cups of tea and finally her wine<\/p>\n

because breasts might seem like floats but they don\u2019t<\/p>\n

and it takes a while to sink in, all that swallowing.<\/p>\n

Pamela wants to tell the Amazons that her canoe is leaking<\/p>\n

but there\u2019s something stuck in her throat and it won\u2019t<\/p>\n

come out; she wants to rise up and drift<\/p>\n

away from the water as the crowd waves, without<\/p>\n
