down past the empty vegetable garden<\/p>\n
a low hum of bees in the flowering gorse<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The path down here is cracked<\/p>\n
concrete tectonic plates<\/p>\n
Creeping Weed growing in the fault lines<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Your sheets are almost see-through in the sun<\/p>\n
my ribs ache with each reaching<\/p>\n
raised wrists showing inverted light like x-rays<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Behind me, a wet snort, pawing<\/p>\n
the dog, carrying last night\u2019s pork bone<\/p>\n
looking for a digging place<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I raise one hand to my forehead<\/p>\n
empty basket hanging from bent fingers<\/p>\n
ignoring the spreading damp between my shoulder blades<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A bee has landed<\/p>\n
on a floral sheet,<\/p>\n
mislead<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
I watch it take flight, going up, up<\/p>\n
disappearing over the fence<\/p>\n
And, from somewhere out in the street<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
a soft cry carries on the breeze<\/p>\n
